We are QUALITY SUSTAINABILITY
At Sriramdas Food Works, we’re committed to sustainable farming practices that protect our planet and enhance the quality of our dairy. By working with local dairy farmers, we’ve introduced advanced genetics to improve milk yield with fewer cows, effectively reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions per unit of milk produced. Through Artificial Insemination (A.I.), we selectively breed local cows with superior genes for milk production, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for the animals and a higher-quality product for our consumers.
Balancing the role of dairy in a sustainable food system isn’t without challenges. While milk production offers essential nutrients, particularly to young children, and supports local livelihoods, it is associated with environmental impacts. We actively collaborate with farmers to manage these challenges and enhance their practices, bringing economic and health benefits to their communities.
Our commitment to sustainability extends to empowering rural women through targeted community programs. In Hunsur, Karnataka, we worked with two women’s self-help groups—one rural, one urban—in a participatory research project. Together, we examined the local dairy food system, fostering discussions on sustainability, health, and local food supply chains. The study revealed the importance of three core principles to these communities: prioritizing quality, adapting to environmental challenges, and viewing dairy’s impact as extending beyond just nutrition.
We believe that sustainability is an ongoing journey, and our collaborative approach allows us to innovate and improve in ways that benefit both the community and the environment.
